Limitless Love - The Love of Narayani

The point of spiritual development is to cultivate the stable vibration of love. Love as an awakening of inner Divine Maha Shakti, an expression of energy, love in action, love on legs. Love for our fellow man and nature. And love for self.

Turning inwards so we can turn outwards, this retreat will focus upon surrendering our known and unknown blockages to love. We will ask Ma Durga to dissolve and transmute them into a new arising of space, a higher octave of consciousness and response to life possible when old limiting fears and traumas are set free.

This journey of love for self, love for nature, love for the goddess and love for all humanity, guided by Shakti Durga, is an exploration into the vast love of Narayani who lives in Her heart, and in the Peedam (seat) of Narayani at the Golden Temple in Vellore, south India.

Sacred Tirthas

Tirthas are places where the worlds meet, inner and outer, spirit and form. Amma has coalesced a series of such places at Her spiritual oasis.

During our time we will be visiting:

Shakti Ganapathi, a solid silver Ganesha installed in a temple outside of Lakshmi’s golden temple
Srinivasa Vishnu temple
Lakshmi Golden Temple
Narayani Temple with Durga Yantra
Nataraj Temple, the Lord of the Dance
Morning program with Shakti Durga each day
Daily program with Sri Sakthi Amma in accordance with Ashram timetable

Amma’s is a traditional South Indian ashram where modest and preferably Indian dress is required. No sleeveless attire, legs must be covered. Inexpensive garments can be purchased in Chennai or Vellore, or at the ashram. Local women take great pleasure in dressing westerners in saris, that is also an adventure we recommend!

Retreat Dates and Other Information

The retreat commences on Sat 17th February with an overnight stay in a 5-star hotel in Chennai. This includes breakfast the next morning Sun 18th February. A meditation with Ganga will be held in the morning prior to boarding our transport to begin our journey to Amma's Ashram in Peedam. The retreat concludes on the morning of Sun 25th February.

This is the contact details for the hotel in Chennai. If you wish to arrive a day or two early and want to book accommodation at the same hotel please email them or phone. Let them know you are part of the retreat group under the name Higher Guidance Pty Ltd and ask to be put in the same room you will be in on the 17th if possible - it might not be possible in which case you would need to change rooms on the 17th. Let them know you will be paying for the extra nights.

NOTE: the room we are running our sessions in is on the first floor and accessible only by stairs. Participants need to be physically able to navigate stairs.

Accommodation is twin share and single. Ashrams run their accommodation differently to hotels and though single rooms can be requested they are not guaranteed and it is also possible some rooms may be triple share. However we always do our best to ensure everyone is comfortable with their accommodation.

Three meals a day at the Ashram are included during the retreat ending with breakfast on Sunday 25th February.

An information evening will be held via Zoom in January and registrations include this session, especially important for anyone who has not travelled to India or been in the presence of the Goddess Narayani at Peedam previously. Date, time and zoom link will be sent via email after registration for the retreat.

Overnight accommodation in Chennai at a 5-star hotel for the night of Sat 17th February with airport transfer to hotel and breakfast. Includes bus transfer from the hotel to the Ashram on 18th February escorted by Ganga. A meditation will run, facilitated by Ganga, prior to leaving for the Ashram.

The first session of the retreat at the Ashram will be held in our group room at Kamala Nivas on Sunday 18 February.

Important Additional Information

As life can sometimes intervene necessitating the need to cancel your place on the retreat, or due to an unforeseen event during the retreat such as an accident, you may not be able to access your insurance. Therefore it is a compulsory requirement that all participants organise insurance to cover costs should the need arise and to ensure our retreat admin has a copy of that insurance prior to the retreat commencement date. The insurance document should be emailed to retreats@shaktidurga.com with the subject 'Travel Insurance India 2024.'

Please note, the price includes an overnight stay at a 5-star Hotel in Chennai on the 17th February. This includes airport transfer to hotel, breakfast on 18th February, transfer to the Ashram escorted by Ganga, the Retreat Manager. There will also be a meditation facilitated by Ganga prior to your departure for the Ashram.

The reason we have included this in the cost of the retreat is because it can be difficult to arrange your own transport to the Ashram. Pre-ordered cars can be unreliable. Should your car not arrive you are unable to get back into the airport to get a taxi and the language barrier can be a problem. If you have not been to the Ashram in Peedam before and you arrive late at night it is possible you will be taken to a room for the night and will need to move the next morning into your correct room. You will not know the layout, where to get food or water and this can be stressful.
